About Charter Controls
Charter Controls is a family-owned UK business founded in 1992. We supply specialist components for control panels and industrial applications, supporting panel builders, OEMs and systems integrators with a mix of strong product ranges, practical technical knowledge and responsive service.
We’ve grown by doing the basics brilliantly: being easy to deal with, helping customers specify the right solution, and turning first orders into long-term trading relationships.
Why This Role Is Exciting
- A brand-new territory growth role — created to expand coverage, not replace someone.
- Real autonomy — manage your own patch, diary and pipeline with support from an experienced internal team.
- Relationship-led, repeat-order model where great account development creates long-term value.
- Quality product ranges and a technical proposition that helps you win and keep customers.
- A growing team with momentum and clear expectations.
The Role
This is a sales-first, field-based role responsible for winning new customers and growing repeat business across the South of England and Wales. You will plan your territory, build and manage your pipeline, create and follow up quotes, keep CRM accurate, and report weekly to the Sales Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business: identify, target and win new customers across the territory.
- Grow existing accounts: increase product adoption, support specification activity, and build repeat ordering.
- Own the sales process end-to-end: meetings, proposals/quotes, follow-up, negotiation and close.
- Run a disciplined territory plan: structured weekly visit cadence, pipeline management and forecasting.
- Maintain excellent sales admin: manage your own quotes and follow-ups, keep CRM up to date, manage your diary.
- Weekly reporting to the Sales Director (activity, pipeline, progress, wins/losses, next week priorities).
- Represent Charter Controls professionally at customer sites and events where appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven success in a field-based B2B sales role (BDM / Area Sales / Territory Manager or similar).
- Comfortable selling technical or engineered products (electrical/industrial/automation/control-related preferred).
- Self-motivated and organised: strong follow-up habits, disciplined pipeline management, confident use of CRM.
- Credible communicator: able to build trust quickly with customers and collaborate internally.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the territory.
What Success Looks Like
- A repeatable weekly rhythm of quality customer visits and a structured territory plan.
- New accounts opened, with early wins converting into consistent repeat orders.
- Healthy pipeline with clear next steps and reliable forecasting.
- Quotes issued promptly, CRM kept accurate, and weekly reporting delivered consistently.
